The Complete Fly Fisher
Our History
It all started in 1973 when the original owner, Philip Wright, brought his fly fishing business to the Big Hole Valley. He was at the fore front of the upscale lodge fly fishing vacations. Up to that time the industry was dominated by the Grizzled Montany guide and catch as catch can food and lodging. Phil who grew up in Grosse Point and his wife, Joan, who grew up in Concord, MA. brought a sense of refinement that suited many of the aficionados of the sport. As well, Phil was a superlative instructor. The Wrights sensibilities and our own bents towards the sport gradually gave the Complete Fly Fisher a reputation in the industry as taking care of people very well and providing the best instruction. One motivation for instructing your angler is that the more success you have, the more you will enjoy your trip. So we take people fishing and teach them the art of angling. Thus we are a school as Walden Pond was a school for naturalists.
