The Big Hole Valley is remote, even by Montana standards. Averaging over 6,000 feet in elevation across 75 miles, it is the highest, widest, and arguably most beautiful of western Montana’s valleys.

Here, the scale of the landscape commands perspective. Flanked by the jagged peaks of the Pioneer Mountains to the east and the Anaconda range to the west, the valley floor is a rolling tapestry of hay meadows and willow-lined riverbanks.
